CLIMBING GRIPS – PRODUCTION AND MATERIALS
Our climbing holds are made of quartz sand, synthetic resin, and color. This mixture is pressed into molds while still liquid. After hardening, the holds are removed and are theoretically ready for immediate use. We offer more than 350 different shapes.
CLIMBING GRIPS – SHAPES AND SUITABILITY
Generally speaking, climbing holds can be divided into three groups: jugs, slopers, and crimps.
Jug holds come in many sizes and shapes. Jugs are particularly popular with beginners and for moderate routes on overhangs and roofs.
Sloper holds are rounded grips with few or no edges. Slopers are considered very finger-friendly but also require a certain amount of skill and technique.
Crimps and pinches are holds that require considerable finger strength. Climbing on crimps and crimps puts significant strain on the hands and fingers.
The choice of the right holds depends heavily on the type and angle of the wall, as well as the climbing ability of the target group.

Information on climbing wall construction
Build a climbing wall
We can supply you with plywood or screen printing plates and, if desired, equip them with T-nuts. We adhere to the following guidelines: drill holes every 20 cm (possibly staggered) with approximately 25 T-nuts per m². Of course, the more holes you have, the more options you have for arranging your handles.
CLIMBING GRIPS – SCREWS AND FIXINGS
Climbing walls are equipped with threaded inserts. These attach to the wall from behind and allow a hold to be screwed in using an M10 socket head cap screw. It is important that this screw always protrudes 2 cm from the hold.
For outdoor use, you should use stainless steel threaded inserts and screws.
Large holds and volumes also usually have smaller screw holes through which the hold can be secured against twisting using chipboard screws. Extremely small footholds and grips are also usually only attached with chipboard screws, as an M10 screw simply wouldn't fit inside the hold.
Our hold sets are particularly well-suited for setting up a new bouldering wall. These sets often include mounting hardware such as screws and threaded inserts.
NUMBER OF GRIPS
Depending on skill level and age, a different number of climbing holds are installed per square meter. It makes sense to mark different climbing routes with different colors and sort them, for example, by difficulty and color.
Our recommendation for climbing walls is 7-8 holds per square meter, for a bouldering wall 10-12 holds per square meter. For physiotherapy and occupational therapy areas, 10-11 holds per square meter. For advanced bouldering walls, 18-25 holds per square meter. For extremely advanced climbers (approximately grade 8 and above), a high hold density is also recommended to offer the most varied climbing experience possible. For climbing walls with rope belaying, we recommend 5-7 holds per square meter. Fewer holds are needed because usually a maximum of three different routes are bolted to each rope belay system.
Climbing wall for children
For children, we recommend a wall height of no more than 2.50 m, with 7-8 holds per square meter. Holds in sizes M and L, especially jug holds, are well-suited for children's hands. We also offer various animal holds, letters, numbers, and Cars for added variety and fun. Of course, it's equally important to protect yourself from falls. For this, we offer a wide range of safety mats.
SAFETY:
For a wall height of up to 2.50 m, we recommend a 20 cm thick safety mat.
For wall heights up to 3.00 m, and for children, we advise using 30 cm thick safety mats.
It's important that the mat is 2 meters deep and half a meter wider on both sides than the climbing wall.
Once a wall is higher than 3 m, it's best to climb with additional belaying equipment. You can find this equipment in our shop.
We hope this information was helpful and wish you lots of fun on your climbing wall!
