Steingletscher at the Susten Pass

This guidebook describes the diverse outdoor activities available in the Steingletscher area at the Susten Pass. The "Stei," as it's known, has long been a climbing paradise and is therefore a popular destination. This is primarily due to the numerous routes of moderate difficulty (3-5a) and the excellent protection. This allows children and beginners to quickly feel comfortable and gain their first experience on the rock. But experienced climbers aren't left out either: routes up to 7c+ are available! The via ferrata to the Tierberglihütte is also described. For boulderers, numerous boulders with countless possibilities await above the hotel and on the Umpol alluvial plain, all set in superb Susten gneiss! The area is also ideal for hiking: six hikes (circular routes) of varying lengths, difficulties, and character are described in detail, complete with maps and text. These tours lead you to idyllic lakes, across narrow ridges, or to coffee and cake via the Guferjoch pass at the neighboring Sustlihütte. In addition to the already well-known and very popular ski and mountaineering tours such as the Sustenhorn or Gwächtenhorn, some "insider tips" are presented. The tours are described in detail with text descriptions, overview photos, maps, and pictograms indicating time required, steepness, aspect, etc. For those who don't feel comfortable on skis but still want to experience the impressive Alpine landscape up close, the two-day glacier trek from the Tierbergli to the Chelenalp hut is recommended.
